Thank Ewe

I don't often make thank you cards, but I made this one to thank a very kind lady who bought my son Christmas prezzies even though she has never met him.  She is a great foster carer and mum to one of my close friends.  I gather my friend talks about him a lot.

I hope she likes this one.

I started with a 7 x 5 inch card blank which I turned into a stair step card with three peaks (you can see them better in the picture below).

I have used textured card stock.  I think this is one of my Bazzil sheets.   I love digi stamps and have used one of the very first ones that I bought way back when.  I have glittered all of the "wooly" areas (got to love glitter glue).

I am entering this card for the following challenges:

CRAFT Challenge - Thank you
Cute Card Thursday - Thank you

Garden Girl

I just had to squeeze in a quick card to keep me going until my youngest goes to bed.

I keep buying Digistamps. They are so useful and versatile. This one is part of one of the Holly and Madison Collections (there are a few). I haven't used it before and it is perfect for the "In the garden challenge over at Every Body Art.

I have coloured her with a combination of whispers brush pens and Sakura Gelly Roll pens for added sparkle. She is actually three layers deep to get a decoupage effect. It took bit longer than I thought to cut everything out, but it was worth it.

The leaves and flowers in the basket along with the skeleton leaves on the front go with this weeks theme over at Cute Card Thursday and the glittery effect coupled with the gems put this card in line with the challenge over at My Time To Craft.

With a bit more time there are a few changes I would make to this one, but I think I did OK for a kinda quick make.

Girly Oriental

Hi out there,

I've been away from crafting for a few months due to a hectic life and feeling a bit low and I have to say that I have really missed being creative and visiting all of my favourite blogs.

I did my first bit of crafting and it felt so good to be back. It's pretty simple, but it came together without too much stress.

The card blank is a soft lilac and I have embossed the front with a Cuttlebug folder. I have coloured Sookie with various shades of lilac and have used a silver leaf pen to colour her hair. I went over her hair again with a pencil before the silver dried to add definition. I edged the flower and the card blank and lightly gone over Sookie with Dusty Concord.

I'm entering this card for the following challenges:
CRAFT Challenge - Insects
Saturday Challenge - What are little girls made of?
One Stop Craft Challenge - Oriental Delights

Inked Oriental

I love using digi stamps and right now, the manga style ones are my favourite. I bought this one from Stitchy Bear. Manga is great because you can really go crazy with the colours and nothing needs to look natural. I can see this one getting used a lot :-)

The design for this card came from this weeks challenge over at Creative Inspirations. Paperplay Challenges asked us to use no patterned papers which is what inspired the colour choice. I enjoy embossing and using distress inks. I think that you get a really good contrast from dusty concord and broken china which are the colours that I have used. Every thing else has fit around that. Not a bad look considering I have only use black card and white card lol.

A Spoonful of Sugar asked for a birthday card, so this one fit in nicely.

Posh Pens

There is a lady at work called Aneta. She helps every one with their jobs and usually has a smile for you even when she is snowed under. I wanted to make her a little thank you prezzie. The girls at work have been dropping hints about the things they would like made to go on their desks and the pen pots are quite popular at the moment.

This pen pot is for Aneta. I think that she is one of the few that hasn't hinted, but she always likes the stuff I take into work. Hope she likes this one.
Dotties World asked us to use a hand made flower. Mine is made from grunge paper which I have coloured using Spiced Marmalade distress ink. I stamped the dots on after I had cut out the stamped flowers and the whole thing is held together with a brad.
The colour scheme was inspired by the fruit colours that One Stop Craft Challenge asked us to use. I have gone for lemon and lime. The colours and flowered paper makes me think of spring, so I will also be entering the pen pot for the spring theme challenge over at The Corrosive.

Leaf Fairy

The Color Dare challenged us to use pink, green and black. I don't have many green papers, so choosing the one to use for this challenge was fairly easy. There is a lovely sketch over at Card Patterns, so my card is based on that. I bought a new border punch this week and this is the first time that I have used it. Might take a bit of practice to get it just right I think :0)

I love digi stamps. You can re size them to fit any project. I always print a few per sheet in different sizes so that I usually have something suitable for a project.

Stamp something asked us to put doodles on our design. Not something that I usually do, but I have tried my hand at some faux stitching. My Sakura glitter pens came out again for that added fairy shimmer.

Variation on a theme

I made a card this morning for my boss and was a bit frustrated that I couldn't do more with it as she doesn't like fuss and frills. To get over that I made another one like it :0)

I was able to do more with this one, but discovered that I really didn't need to add much more to make the card more effective. Don't get me wrong..... I like how the first card turned out, I just would have liked to have done more with it. I find making tonal or monochromatic cards very therapeutic, so I have tried to stick with two closely related colours for this one.

With this version I have added white card, vellum, brads and more gems. I have used one of my new digi stamps and edged the die cut in silver. I have added glitter to the wings for a bit of sparkle and used a fine gold gel pen on the jewellery she is wearing. I seem to have a thing about winged creatures at the moment as they keep turning up in my cards. I think that it is a very girly card so I will be entering it for the challenges at Simon Says and Stamp Something. Charisma Card Challenge asked us to use fairies which is what finalised my decision for which image to use.

I was going to do more with the center panel of the card, but it was starting to get a bit bulky and I was worried in case it needed to be sent in the post. I think that I wont use the brads in the center panel next time I make one of these.
I'm still trying to work out how to show a larger image when you click on the photos, so please bare with me on that.
Hugs to you all
Naomi

Sunshine Glam

I sometimes get asked to make birthday cards for staff at work. This one is the toughest one that I have made to date. My boss doesn't like "Frills or fuss" and hates anything that looks "over done". So I had to make a minimalist card.

I love what I have made, but there is so much more that I wanted to do with it. Her favourite colour is yellow, so I went for a bright shade to make up for the lack of embellies. I have edged the image in silver for a bit of added glitz and the white ribbon is velvet.
There will be quite a few people signing the card so I have left the middle section empty to accommodate that. I think it is quite pretty, but I am off to make another with more on it to sooth myself lol.
I'm going to enter this card for the Pastel or Bright Challenge over at Dotties World as I think that this one definitely qualifies as a bright card.

Mint n Lilac

My time to craft challenged us to make a project using the colour green and one other colour, so of course I went for lilac. It made sense since I already had the papers and embellies from my last project out on the table hehe.

The little lady that I used came from Charmed cards and crafts and is from the Holly and Madison range. I like to economise so I will also be entering this card for the challenges over at A spoonful of Sugar and Stamp something, who both asked for something to do with spring. I think that the colours that I used are very spring like.

Fancy Bling

I love playing with acetate, but last summer I bought some printed acetate and didn't have a clue what to do with it so I stuck it in the back of a drawer.

This week at Dotties World they challenged us to use acetate, so I was determined to put one of the five sheets that I bought to good use. This is what happened!

This card was definitely a case of "Don't think, just do" and I think I surprised myself. Most of my card blanks are 5" by 7", but I wanted something bigger for this. The acetate is A4 so I folded it in half and put a pale blue card blank in the middle to show off the pattern on the acetate a bit better.

The flower was originally white, but I coloured the bottom bloom with Dusty Concord distress ink and added a black gem. I went over board with the sakura stardream pens for the glitter effect and blinged out with more stick on gems. I need to go in search of some more of the ribbon that I used as I am running out of it now.

I'm sorry about the glare on the pic, but I have no idea how to get a good night time photo of acetate. I work during the day and it's dark by the time I get home. I tried it without the flash and it looked way worse.

Distressed Male

I always have problems coming up with ideas for male cards, so I was really surprised when the idea I had for the sketch challenge over at Allsorts was for a card for a teen aged boy.

I started with a pale blue card blank and added some black c'oridinations card, some scraps of white card and a couple of buttons. I have used two different embossing folders on my white scraps and coloured them with Broken China distress ink. The image that I used is Mikey from Dotties world.

All inked up

Sometimes a card just happens. I was playing with my embossing folders and distress inks and this card.........happened. I really like this combination of colours. They are nice and bright and not at all Christmassy. It feels as though all I have made for a while is Christmas cards lol. (I started back in June.)

The colours that I have used are Broken china, Fired Brick and Spiced marmalade. The image is "Madison with attitude" from Charmed Cards and Crafts.

Cute Cards Thursday challenged us to make a project with teenagers in mind and I hope this fits the bill.

Pink Ice

Stamp something asked us to make something using our favourite stamp and either die cuts or punches. They asked us on Friday and I only just came to a decision about which stamp to use. In the end I opted for one of my new manga style digi stamps.

I have used two different shaped nesties on this one. and all of them have been edges with sakura stardust pens for a glittery effect. Her wings have also been done with the same pens using an aqua brush for a touch of translucence.

I hope that no one does a challenge asking me to use my favourite nestie or I really will be stuck!!

Pink Chocolate

This is my last card for the weekend. It is for a challenge over at SSC. We were given a sketch to follow and the challenge was to use some of your latest stash.
The newest addition to my stash was the tree digi stamp which was on a free CD on a magazine. I wish my picture was better so that you could see the details. The pink leaves on the tree are all pink hearts.
I've used lots of chocolaty stuff on this one, including a gorgeous chocolate double satin ribbon.
The paper at the bottom is from Daisy and Dandelion and the one at the top is from HOTP. I edged the white flowers with pink using a whispers brush pen to keep it in with the theme.
This is a late entry as they do a new challenge every other Monday and a new one is due tomorrow.
